Funeral Services will be held Tuesday May 10, 2022 at 6:00pm at Walnut Street Church of Christ with Lieutenant Chad Fussell officiating. Field Training Officer Zachary “Zack” Dustin McCay, age 45 passed away on May 5, 2022 at Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital West in Nashville, TN. Zack was born in Delta, Colorado on April 14, 1977 to the late Barbara Dawn Willson-Pike and Dwight Dennis McCay. Officer McCay is also preceded in death by Step-Father Thomas Pike.

 

Officer McCay is survived by his wife Jennifer McCay; daughter, Kaylee McCay; brothers, Dwight “Smokey” McCay (Donna), John Paul Pike (Melodie), and Thomas Pike (Izzy); sisters, Rebecca Pike, Sandra Pike, and Elizabeth Young (Jerry). As well as his best friend James “Red” Mitchell and his four legged best friend BooBoo Peyton McCay.

 

Officer McCay is also survived by a host of brothers and sisters at the City of Dickson Police Department, S.O.R.T. Team Members, U.S. Marine Corp., and the U.S. Army who will serve as honorary pallbearers.

 

Officer McCay began his career at the City of Dickson Police Department on April 13, 2017. 

He served as an infantryman with the United States Marine Corps 1996-2000 and has served in the U.S. Army Reserve since 2004 as a drill sergeant and section sergeant.

 

Officer McCay was an active member of DPD’s Special Operations Response Team. He was known as one of the “Motor Officers” of the Dickson Police Department and to many others as the “Dancing Cop” from directing school zone traffic at DCHS. 

 

The number of lives he brightened on their way to school each day is truly unknown. Zack was a servant through and through. He served his community as a police officer, our country as a soldier and his family as a loving, devoted husband and father. 

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Dickson Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association’s Scholarship Fund. Memorials can be mailed to Taylor Funeral Home at 214 N. Main Street Dickson, TN 37055.
