Twyman Lee Towery, PhD, 80, passed away Wednesday, August 24th at his home in Brentwood, TN.  He was born in Fayetteville, TN to the late Clarence Goodrich Towery and Mildred Turner Towery on Oct 25, 1941.

Twyman graduated from Chattanooga Central High School in 1959. During his undergraduate studies at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga, he was President of his Class for three years and a member of Lambda Chi Alpha.  Twyman trained at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. Worked with hospitals, medical clinics, and health care personnel throughout the state. In 1965, He received his MS in Hygiene, Medical and Hospital Administration from The University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health. Twyman served his country in the Naval and Army Reserves.  He was most recently CEO & Founder at Towery Communications, was a published author, motivational speaker, consultant, civil and family mediator, grief counselor, and Organizational Psychologist.  He also served as a hospital and corporate executive (including tenure as CEO of Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, Tennessee).

His training in Medical and Hospital Administration at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health and the University of Kentucky Medical Center propelled him into a world of patients, physicians, nurses, and other health care workers, throughout the United States and foreign areas, such as the Middle East, Latin America and Europe. He was in charge of all Saudi Arabian students in Hospital Administration training in the United States at Tulane University, where he served on the adjunct faculty. When Twyman left full time corporate management to become a professional speaker and management consultant he ventured into almost every segment of American business, as well as governmental entities such as the Department of Defense, C.I.A. and various branches of the military.

Twyman's first book, Male Code: Rules Men Live and Love By, won critical acclaim and was followed by Wisdom of Wolves: Nature’s Way To Organizational Success and The Power of Eagles: Nature's Way To Organizational Success, both of which have been translated into many foreign languages. His book relating how the wisdom of the wolf pack can be effectively applied to human organizations is now in a new edition titled The Wisdom of Wolves: Leadership Lessons From Nature and is complemented by scores of pictures of the majestic wolf pack by some of America's foremost wildlife photographers.

Twyman could be very compassionate. He was a thoughtful friend, hard worker, and a brilliant businessman. He enjoyed gourmet food, classy clothes, and a good debate.  Twyman loved all animals, especially his dogs.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother. Dr. Towery is survived by his fiancé, Debra Thurman; son, Jude Bloom; daughter, Laura (Aaron) Campbell of Knoxville, TN; and 6 grandchildren.
