David William Estes, age 74 of Burns, TN passed from this life into the next on October 6, 2022, while doing what he loved: helping people.

A service to celebrate David’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 with his son, Reverend Marty Estes, and Dr. Mike Miller conducting the service. David’s place of rest will be in the Union Cemetery, where he will be buried next to his beloved mother and father.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Wednesday from 12:00 Noon until the time of service.  For those desiring, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church-Brannan’s Sunday School Class, Gideons International, or the Building Fund of Sand Ridge Baptist Church, Lexington, TN, where his son Marty serves on staff.

David was born at home in Burns, TN on March 11, 1948.  He was a son of the late Lantie Richard Estes and Emma Crow Estes.  David retired from being the manager of operations with Suntrust Bank with 35 years of service, then came out of retirement to work for Tenncare from 2006 to 2013.  He was a faithful member of the Dickson First Baptist Church and of the Brannan Sunday School Class, where he served as deacon, and was just about to return to active service. David and his wife Marylin played important roles in the class, which she continues to this day.  David had a servant’s heart for serving God and helping others. He was rarely without a smile and tried his best to make a difference for everyone he came into contact with. Since retiring, he has spent countless hours helping friends and family, doing things many never knew about or saw. David spent his life loving and giving to others, especially his family, who were his pride and joy. Nothing brought David more joy and happiness than spending time with his family and making sure their needs (and wants) were met.

Mr. Estes is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Marylin Noe Estes of Burns, TN; his son, Marty Estes (Erin) of Lexington, TN; his grandchildren, Isaac and Annaliese Estes; his brother, Phil Estes (Lloyd Smith); his sisters, Betty Potter (Valton), and Beverly Fussell; niece and nephews, Deven Ragan (Tevin), David Fussell (Sara), Tim Potter (Amber), Tadd Potter (Julie), and Todd Potter (Ginger), and leaves behind a host of friends and others who have experienced God’s love and grace due to David’s selfless acts on their behalf.
