Richard B. "Rick" Mavity
Richard Brandon Mavity, age 65 of Shelbyville, formerly of Nashville passed away on December 24, 2022 in Nashville, TN. He was born on July 14, 1957, in Detroit, Michigan. He leaves behind a host of loved ones, family and friends.
Richard graduated from Dickson County High School in 1976. After graduating he moved to Nashville, TN to pursue his career in Law Enforcement. His career in law enforcement blossomed with many awards, accommodations and outstanding service recognition’s. He was promoted to Detective after approximately five years on the force. He retired from MNPD in 2010 where he spent almost 30 years serving as a Burglary and Homicide Detective. He was the youngest patrolman to be promoted to Detective and CID at that time for MNPD.
The family of Richard will be having a graveside ceremony for him on Friday, April 28, 2023, at 1:00 PM. It will be at the Dickson County Memorial Gardens on Hwy 70 In Dickson County. Taylor Funeral Home will be overseeing the graveside service.
Following the service there will be a Celebration Of Life Dinner in Richard’s honor at 5:00 PM on April 28. The dinner will be at Cajun Lake Lodge 3135 US Hwy 70 E Burns, TN 37029.
