Linda was born August 31, 1943 in Ripley, TN to Jessie and Johnnie Hoggard. She graduated from Ripley High School in 1961. After graduating in 1961 she married and had three children, Stefanie, Stuart and Stacy who were the lights of her life. She had many skills and interests but being a mother and homemaker was her passion. Family was the most important part of her life and she remained close to her three sisters Winnie, Peggie and JoAnn throughout her lifetime.

In 1987 Linda moved from Memphis TN to Birmingham Alabama. On July 3, 1987, Linda met the true love of her life, her husband John Gipson. They eventually moved to Leeds AL where they bought a farm, planted gardens and opened Thinx, a business that supported the local community providing a wide variety of services. She was a huge fan of Atlanta Braves baseball and Chipper Jones.

Linda’s favorite pastime was shopping her local yard sales. She was an expert treasure hunter and yard sale negotiator. She and her sister JoAnn trailblazed their way through large swaths of middle Tennessee in their quest to find the best neighborhood bargains. She was dedicated to finding clothes, furniture and various other treasures for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Linda was a proud grandmother to five grandchildren and great grandmother to 10 great grandchildren.

Linda had several careers over her lifetime varying from being an accountant to working with children at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital. For many years she worked with her mother Johnnie, who was a respiratory therapist working with cystic fibrosis patients. She attended Memphis State University where she majored in engineering and consistently made the Dean’s list.

Linda is survived by her husband John Gipson, her sisters Winnie Crews, Peggie Burgess, JoAnn Hughes (Owen); loving daughter Stefanie Fletcher (Mark Kleiman); stepson Dr. Keith Gipson (Jillian); her grandchildren Brett Nieber (Molly); David Nieber; Amanda Puckett (Brandon); Zackery Mays (Jessica); Ashle Lancaster (Dallas); Camille and Alexi Gipson; and many great grandchildren who loved and adored their Nana.
