Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will take place on Monday, February 6, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 12 noon until the time of service. Interment will be at a later date in the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery.

Ray Jennings Boyd, Jr., age 79, of Bon Aqua, TN, passed from this life on February 3, 2023, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. He was born on June 24, 1943, in Chattanooga, TN, to the late Ray Jennings Boyd, Sr. and the late Opal B. Perkins Boyd.

Ray proudly served our country in the United States Air Force for 9 years specializing in Minuteman Missile Maintenance as part of the Strategic Air Command. During his time in the Air Force, he was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation for his work with the Minuteman Missiles.

He went on to become a Baptist Minister, serving many years at numerous churches all across the United States. During this time, Ray earned a PhD in Theology. He truly spent his entire life spreading the word of God. He also loved ministering with his family through music; as he would play the guitar, his wife on the piano, and his 3 children sang.

When he wasn’t preaching the gospel or working, Bro. Ray’s hobbies included Fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family. He was also a Scottish Rite Mason.

In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his daughter: Mary Shawn Boyd; and a grandson: Anthony Boyd.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 60 years: Kay Boyd; his children: Albert Boyd (Kimberly) of New York, Jerry Boyd (Lisa) of Charlotte, TN, Jenny Czarnecki (Joe) of Michigan; his brothers: Terry Boyd (Annette) of Georgia, and Glenn Boyd (Hope) of Maine; his grandchildren: Payton Boyd (Abbi), Matthew Boyd, Leeanna Czarnecki, Abby Boyd, Brandi Nichols, Sandi Tummins, and Alex Harness; and his 3 great-grandchildren: Madison Boyd, Connor Boyd, and Allena Tummins.
