Harry Carlton Scott, age 87 of Dickson, died Friday, March 24, 2023 at Horizon Medical Center. He chose cremation and no formal services are planned at this time. For those desiring, memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to the American Cancer Society.
Born in Dickson County in Vanleer, Harry was a son of the late Carlton H. and Etta Kate Wolfe Scott. He served his country in the U. S. Army, where he was a medic and trained as an X-Ray technician. Harry received his bachelor's degree from Austin Peay State University and had also attended classes at Ole Miss. He retired as a cost accountant for the General Electric Corporation. Harry was a member of Dickson First United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Martha Brown and by a brother, Bill Scott.
Survivors include his wife, Gail Harrington Scott, Dickson; three daughters, Valerie Sawyer and her husband, Scott of Dickson, Karen Saunders and her husband, Tim of Fairview, and Debbie Harris and her husband, Scott of San Antonio, TX; one brother, Jimmy Scott of Georgia; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
