Edward Orman “Ed” Moore, age 84, of Burns, TN, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2025, at NHC in Dickson.
Ed spent his life building—his career, his friendships, and the people around him. More than anything, he was a people person with a servant’s heart, always showing up when it mattered.
He dedicated over 40 years to the steel industry, working in various roles, with his last stop as President of Hickory Steel Erectors. Known for his strong work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, and commitment to excellence, he took pride in doing things right and leaving a lasting impact on the industry in our area. But for him, work was always about the people.
He never met a stranger, enjoyed a meal at Lugo’s, and rarely passed up a good card game. He had a sharp mind, loved a good book, and always looked forward to a round of golf—especially if it meant trying out a new course. Whether working at “the farm,” tending to his donkeys at “Liberty,” or riding his father’s tractor in the Old Timer’s Day parade, he valued hard work, good company, and a job well done.
He was preceded in death by his late wife, Elaine, as well as his parents, three sisters, and four brothers.
Ed’s legacy lives on through his children, Donna Moore and Greg Moore (Star); his grandsons, Dustin Moore (Bridget) and Luke Moore (Whitney); and his great-grandson, Rocco Moore.
His family grew through love, with his marriage to his wife Dianne in 2013, and he was proud to welcome Mart Sesler (Denise), Lynette Sesler, Renee Sesler (Julie), Cole Sesler (Carmen), Jordan Brown, and Harper Brown as his own. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Friday, January 31, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the service begins. Ed will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dickson County Help Center, First Presbyterian Church of Dickson, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
