Theodore Jefferson "Jeff" McClurkan Sr.

 Funeral services for Mr. Theodore Jefferson McClurkan, Sr, known to family and friends as Jeff were conducted Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013 at 12 Noon from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home with Bro. Terry Bear and Bro. Jeff Lankford officiating. Place of rest is in the Edgewood Cemetery.

Mr. McClurkan, retired office manager for the former Stephens Truck Line in Dickson, Tn died Sept. 24, 2013 at NHC of Dickson. A lifelong resident of Dickson County he was the son of the late Thoda  J. and Irma DeBusk McClurkan and grew up on Yellow Creek near Ruskin Cave.  He was educated at Edgewood Elementary School, Dickson Central High School, graduating Class of 1948, and Andrew Jackson Business University, Nashville, Tennessee.  Jeff worked as bookkeeper at Fairway Wholesale Grocery in Dickson from 1949 until drafted in the U. S. Army in 1950.  He served in the U. S. Finance Corp (Army), Payroll Division.  He was separated from active duty in October 1952 from Ft. Huachuca, Arizona, transferred to U. S. Army Active Reserves and was honorably discharged in October 1956.  He was owner of McClurkan Grocery from November 1954 until April, 1966 and was employed by Stephens Truck Line from October 1965 until February 1986.  Jeff was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church for 63 years, Dickson Chapter of the American Legion, and was a Life Member of the D.A.V., Chapter #28.

Jeff married Mary Louise Burgess on October 2, 1956.  Born to this union on September 11, 1958 was one son, Theodore Jefferson McClurkan, Jr., known as Jeffrey McClurkan.  In addition to his parents, Jeff was also preceded in death by brothers, Hugh, William “Pink”, Rodney, and Granville McClurkan.  His wife, Louise preceded him in death on November 8, 2011.  Survivors include his son, Jeffrey McClurkan and his wife, Ann Phillips McClurkan, Dickson; grandson, Mack McClurkan and his wife Martika; granddaughter, Jennifer McClurkan; great-grandson, Brady Allen McClurkan; two nephews.
