Mary Jane was the daughter of the late Helen Hutton McCreary and Benjamin Fletcher McCreary, Jr. She was a graduate of Dickson High School and continued her education by receiving her undergraduate degree and then her Master’s Degree in Sociology from Southwestern University in Memphis. Mary Jane worked for many years as a social worker before “retiring” to assist her mother as a professional photographer in the family business, McCreary Studio in Dickson. She was a member of Dickson First United Methodist Church and attended faithfully, for as long as she was able, and continued to attend virtually, via YouTube, when she could no longer attend in person. She lived a quiet, simple life in her family home where she stayed in touch with family and friends and cared for her five cats.
She is survived by her brother, Edward Fletcher “Mac” McCreary and his wife, Melinda, of Nashville; a nephew, Ben McCreary and his wife, Amanda, of Franklin; and two grand nephews, Levi and Asher McCreary.
