 Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, April 14, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will take place on Thursday, April 13, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. A graveside service will take place on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Kennett Memorial Gardens in Kennett, Missouri.

Fredrick Michael “Mike” Caneer, age 75, of Dickson, TN, passed from this life on April 10, 2023, at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. He was born on February 27, 1948, in Kennett, Missouri, to the late Frederick Washington Caneer and Christina Massey.

Mike graduated from Senath-Hornersville High School in Senath, Missouri in 1966 where he played both varsity baseball and basketball and was a member of the ROTC program. He then attended Arkansas State University and obtained an associate degree in business. He was also a National Guard Veteran.

He began his furniture career with Jamison Bedding in 1968 and has been in the furniture industry since – including owning New Creations Upholstry, National Sales Manager of Southwind Gallery, CEO of Furniture Direct and Managing Partner of Major Discount Furniture in Dickson, TN.

Mike’s love and compassion for people allowed him to succeed in his career. He never met a stranger. Mike Caneer was a great friend, and he loved his friends and family. He had a special place in his heart for his wife and sister.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Don McFarlin; and a brother-in-law: Steve Welch.

Survivors include his wife, Teresa of Dickson, TN; his daughter: Neely Segura (Ruben) of Katy, TX; his son: Ryan Cupit (Jessica) of Katy, TX; his sister: Debbie Welch of Advance, MO; his grandchildren: Anthony Segura, Jordan Segura, DJ Cupit, and Lizzie Cupit; beloved uncle: Lee Massey (Linda)--Patriarch of his family; nephews: Matthew Welch (Jennifer), Jeremy Welch, and Christopher Welch (Susan); and his great nieces and nephews: Emma Welch, Drew Welch, Chelsey Laurentius, Morgan Harris, and Cash Westbrook; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and also in addition to the entire staff of Major Discount Furniture.

Active Pallbearers will be Ryan Cupit, Ruben Segura, Jeffrey Miller, Matthew Welch, Jeremy Welch, Christopher Welch, Jake Davis, and Donnie Lampley. Honorary Pallbearers include his “Lunch Bunch”: Jackie Choate, BJ Garton, Danny Donegan, Dave Gray, and Timmy Murrell, as well as a special friend and brother: KJ Corlew; and the round table crew from the VFW Post 4641 Dickson, TN.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the doctors and staff of Tri-Star Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, Dr. Mariana Chavez, Dr. David Huneycutt, and nurses Gabby Katafias, Hailey Stones, and Alex Miller.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Veterans and Military Support, VFW Dickson Post 4641. Family and friends are invited to a gathering at the VFW in Dickson immediately following the funeral service, which is located at 215 Marshall Stuart Dr. Dickson, TN 37055.
