Ruby Mae Groves Bolton, age 95 of Cumberland Furnace, TN died on October 7, 2025. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at the Taylor Funeral Home with Bro. James Black officiating. Her place of rest will be in the Rye’s Chapel Cemetery in Southside, TN. The visitation will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM and on Saturday, from 9:00 AM until the time of service.
Mrs. Bolton was born on August 21, 1930 in Cumberland Furnace, TN. She was a daughter of the late Henry “Bud” Groves and the late Elizabeth Sinks Groves. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Lee Bolton, Sr.; 3 sons, Melvin Bolton, Jr., Charles Bolton, Victor Bolton; and a grandchild, Austin Tyler Bolton.
Ruby’s family and friends recognized her as the “best granny in the world.” She lovingly fulfilled the role of grandmother and helped raise so many children, even if they weren’t related. Cooking was one of her special traits. Her kitchen was a warm and welcoming place. Ruby enjoyed working in her garden. Her family has memories of spending time together while corn shucking, snapping beans, and hulling peas. Christmas was always special to Ruby. She enjoyed the festive lights and sending Christmas cards.
Mrs. Ruby Bolton is survived by a son, James Ellis Bolton; 2 daughters, Linda Harrison and Kathy Crowder; 10 grandchildren, April Terrell, Chris Bolton, Daniel Bolton, Amy De Paz, Stephanie Crowder, Bubba Crowder, Brittnie Lee, Karen Jensen, Andrew Bolton, Scotty Bolton; 15 great grandchildren, Zachary, Abby, Graham, Eric, Zoe, Kimber, Brian, Oliver, Tavian, Ally, Lindsey, June, Maddox, Jaxon, and baby Laylah.
