Alvin Antonio “Deuce” Love, Sr., age 44 of Dickson, TN died on October 25, 2025. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at the Taylor Funeral Home.
Alvin Antonio Love Sr was born on November 9, 1980. He was the first born of Bishop Alvin and Mary Love. He was baptized and served under his father’s direction at his home church, Resurrected Power Holy Church of Christ. This is where Alvin learned to “pluck” the guitar. His mother and aunt anointed his hands to play. He was alongside his brother, Josh, who played the drums. He obtained a 9th grade level education; however, he did not let this withhold him from being the best heavy equipment machine operator in construction. He was very skilled with his eyes, so skilled that he did not have to use a GPS where others had to use it to have correct precision. There was no heavy machinery that Alvin couldn’t operate. Alvin embarked on his passion for music not long after high school. This began his journey across the United States. He played for Bill Pickney and the Original Drifters at the age of 19. He remained his lead guitarist for several years. With his foot in the door, he began to play for Willie Neil Johnson and the Keynotes. With his guitar, Alvin was not afraid to set ablaze a stage, no matter what artist he was playing behind. He had the opportunity to play behind Dorinda Cole Clark, Lee Logan and the Legendary Drifters and pastor Tim Rogers and the Fellas to name a few.
There were a plethora of local churches and groups Alvin pledged his allegiance to play for; The Marable Twins, Pastor Tony Ward and Company, and The WWB Singers. He truly was a long-legged guitar picking man.
His legacy remains through his wife Shanell, their children Alevian, Quan, Alviyah, and Alvin Jr, his brother Josh (Jasmine), sister-in -law Latasha, granddaughter Denver, niece Jayana and nephew Jamarion, godchildren Kaylis, Taevian, Makiah, Kanton, Zariah, and Jalyn, bonus children Tiara, Jalisa, and Jaylon Choate, and his bonus mothers Carol Grimes and Mary Ann Edmondson.
He is proceeded in death by his beloved parents and mother-in-law Willa Bell.
Alvin had an innumerable number of bonus sisters and brothers who showed him a great amount of love and care as if they were blood; in music and in ministry. He touched the hearts of many through casual conversation. It did not take much for Alvin to be a light.
