Janet Sue VandeBunt, age 84 of White Bluff, TN, passed away on November 23, 2025.
Born in Baltimore City, Maryland, a daughter of John and Ann (Viane) Colvin. Beloved wife and best friend for 30 years of Paul D. VandeBunt.
Jan was proud to have spent a 30 year career as a Federal employee. Jan began her career working for the Navy eventually working for other agencies including NASA, at the Pentagon and retiring from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Jan loved dogs to her very core. Jan loved to train dogs, earning numerous AKC titles in field, obedience, and agility. Jan loved to sew on her antique Singer sewing machine. Making clothes, helping a small theater group in Virginia with costumes, and at home making napkins, wind socks, & mailbox covers. Jan was at home outdoors whether working with flowers or walking in the park among birds & butterflies.
Survived by family members including Paul (husband). Sisters Laura (Richard) Duenkel, Carol Bove, nephews Dan (Alex) Duenkel, and Doug (Alison) Duenkel.
Paul would like to thank all staff at the TriStar Horizon Medical Center of Dickson and TriStar Centennial Medical Center – particularly the ER & ICU teams, along with NHC at the Trace for the care they provided to Jan.
Instead of a service, Jan would ask that you use your time to help those in need. To please use your ability to take someone to the store or doctor, help with their yard work or holiday lights, or provide food or just to check in to make sure folks are OK. So sorry to hear about Jan. Though we never got to meet her, we feel like we knew her from the kind letters and cards she sent. She certainly lived a full, impressive life! May she rest in peace.

We’re deeply saddened by Jan’s passing. Reading her obituary gave me a better insight to Jan. Her life was like a John Prine song, rich and full of meaning.
