Funeral services will be Saturday January 3, 2026 at 2 PM from the Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Jim Rountree officiating. Place of rest will be in the Dickson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be Saturday January 3rd from 12 PM until time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be to the Backpack Children’s fund of the Dickson County Board of Education.

Mary Anne Harris Self, age 93 of Dickson, TN passed away Thursday January 1, 2026. A native of Charlotte, TN she was the daughter of the late Robert “Bob” and Elizabeth Raymond Harris and was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Theodore Melton Self; her son, Ted M. Self, Jr.

She and Melton met at Austin Peay State University in 1949. She was a freshman and he was a Junior from Alabama. Later in 1950 they married and he became a coach at Dickson High School. Him being from Alabama, he thought there was “no other” place to live, so when he had a chance to coach in Alabama Mary Anne informed him, “I moved from Charlotte to Dickson, and that’s as far south as I am going” End of quote!

Mary Anne’s favorite hobby was playing Bridge. Her most loyal friends were, Jane Daniel, Freida DeVandry, Cathie Fox, Patti Garton, Joyce McDaniel, Joy Redden, Gala Rountree and Pam Schreiber. She was a member of Dickson First Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan French and her husband Roger of Dickson, TN; granddaughter, Aubree French.

  1. My heart breaks but I know she, Brenda and Wendy are at the bridge table. So sorry I couldn’t be there. It’s been a blessing to have known Mary Anne and she’s left us so many beautiful memories. Tell we meet again my dear friend. Love you
