Funeral services will be held Monday, April 20, 2026, at 2 PM from the Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home. Place of rest will be in the Edgewood Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Sunday April 19, 2026 from 4 to 8 PM and on Monday from 11 AM until time of service. For those desiring memorials may be made to the funeral home to help with end of life expenses.
Mrs. Rosa Leigh Choate age 83, passed away on April 13, 2026, at NHC nursing home. Rosa was born May 17, 1942 in Dickson, TN to the late Herman and Clorene (Huff) Guthrie. She was the wife of the late Walter Hix Choate who preceded her in death December 13, 2025. Rosa spent many years working as a seamstress with the Former Red Kap industries here in Dickson, also worked in the deli department of Krogers, and for a short time she worked for the restaurant at Montgomery Bell State Park. Rosa loved her family and grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved the times when there would be family gatherings for dinner, regardless of whether it was inside or outdoor cookouts. Her southern cooking was one of the best.
She is survived by her 3 daughters, Pattie Cauthen of White Bluff, Pam Lewis (Jerry) of Dickson , and Penny Whitaker ( Kenny) of Dickson; one brother, Kenneth Guthrie (Faye) of Dickson and one sister, Wanda Tobias of Dickson; 6 Grandchildren , Brandy Cauthen (Kyle Gordon) , Justin Myatt (Logan Springer), Jessica Perry (Josh), Tashawna Lowe (Richard “JR”), Mason Whitaker, Ryan Whitaker; 11 great grandchildren .
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Hix Choate of 65 years; 5 sisters Earlene Bellar, Annie Lee Choate, Bertie Sue Dickson, Frances Hassenrick, Betty Lou Story; and 5 brothers, Edward Guthrie, Robert Guthrie, James Guthrie, Wayne Guthrie, Lawrence Guthrie; and son-in-law, Ronnie Cauthen.
