Barry Steven Jackson, age 72 of Dickson, TN died on March 10, 2026.  A celebration of Barry’s life will be held at a later date.

Mr. Jackson was born on October 7, 1953 in Paris, TN.  He was a son of the late McSwain and Shirley Smith Jackson.

Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ginny Jackson; his son, Alexander Jackson of Dickson, TN; sister, Kimberly Jackson Hooper (Stanley) of  McKenzie, TN; uncle, Tom Jackson (Connie) of Winston Salem, NC; mother-in-law, Jane Gibson of Springville, TN; sisters-in-law, Jeanie Oliver, Julie Kern (Greg); nieces, Christie Oliver Fields (Nic), Melesa Lamb Lassiter, Brianna Domalik Collins (Spencer); nephews, Justin Oliver (Ginger), Drew Domalik, Brandon Lamb (Amanda); first cousins, Ken Jackson, Steven Jackson, Laura Johnson, Brenda Kendrick.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Jackson; his grandmothers, Geneva Jackson and Lola Borders; brother-in-law, Jimmy Oliver; father-in-law, Johnny Gibson

Barry attended Murray State University and Germanna Community College.  He married Ginny Wiser Jackson August 20,1976.  Barry served twenty years in the TN Army National Guard in the states of Tennessee, Georgia, and Virginia.  He absolutely loved college and high school football. He graduated from Henry Co. High School and tried to go see the HCHS Patriots play football each year.  He was a big UT Vols fan.  He was a football referee for Pop Warner through high school in Virginia.

Barry was a pit crew, chaperone, and supporter of the Dickson Co. High School band when his son, Alex, was in the band.  He never missed a competition, football game, or parade.  Barry had worked as a supervisor at Dal-Tile.  He was of the Church of Christ faith. He served as the youth deacon at the Warrenton Church of Christ in Warrenton, VA where he, Ginny, and Alex are members.

This past year, Barry and Ginny became volunteers with Schnauzer Love Rescue.  Barry transported several dogs throughout Middle Tennessee. He became attached to one little rescue pup, Zoey, who was adopted by him and Ginny.  She misses her dad.

Barry, Ginny, and Alex have been volunteers with the Dickson ReStore and worked on builds for Habitat for Humanity.
