Larry W. Wright

Larry W. Wright lovingly known to so many as Pappy or Squeaky, died on July 26, 2026 at the age of 73.   A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at the Taylor Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in the Union Cemetery.  The visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Thursday from 1:00 PM until the time of service.  For those desiring, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Larry dedicated his life to serving others, beginning at the age of 15 at Bowl-O-Rena. After serving his community as an EMS provider, he returned to purchase the bowling alley where his journey began. Bowl-O-Rena became more than a business—it became a second home to so many, a place where friendships were formed, memories were made, and everyone was treated like family. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand, offer a laugh, or make someone feel welcome.

Pappy was a loving husband of 51 years, devoted father to his three children and a proud grandfather to his many grandchildren, who were the greatest joy of his life. He loved cooking and sharing his famous BBQ with family and friends, especially during the holidays, when his home was always filled with laughter, good food, and the people he loved most. He enjoyed tinkering with just about anything, spending time outdoors, and gathering around a campfire. Nothing made him happier than entertaining his grandchildren, making them laugh, and treating them to ice cream. Those moments, big and small, are memories his family will cherish forever.

You’ve made it, the 13th strike, the final roll. Now you’ve got the best seat in the house, with much happiness and lanes of gold.

Please keep his family and all who knew and loved him in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by everyone whose lives he touched.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Anita Lynn Wright; his children, Coach Scott Wright (Cassie), Justin Wright (Shayna), and Jessica Wright Bates (Mark); sister, Helen Charles; grandchildren, Gracelyn, Lyla, Gavin, Reagan, Jameson, Gabi, Rylan, Dayton, and Drake.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Mattie Pearl Davis Gray; brother, Elbert Wright; sister, Faye Dunn; and a grandchild, Kailynn Wright.
