John Paul Overton, age 93 of Canby, Oregon, passed from this life to his eternal home with God on Thursday September 3, 2026.
John was born on October 30, 1932, to Tom and Ida Overton in Dickson Tennessee. He worked in construction, joined the army and then moved to California where he became a police officer for the El Segundo Police Department. He later moved to Eugene Oregon where he raised a family, served his church and his community as a Lane County Deputy Sheriff.
He is survived by his children, Brenda (Jeff), Vickie (Dean), and Kevin as well as grandchildren, Jennifer, Joshua, Justin, Janelle, Kirsten, Emily and 15 great grandchildren. Also survived by 2 sisters Martha Nell and Florine. He was predeceased by his wife Charlotte Johnson Overton.
A memorial service will be held at the Canby Church of Christ (515 NW 4th Ave.) on September 12, 2026, at 10 AM. A graveside service will be held on October 10, 2026, in Dickson, Tennessee at Rock Church Cemetery.
