Dewie O’Neal Sykes, age 84 of Dickson, died Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Life Care Center in Centerville. Funeral was held at Taylor Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Randy Franklin officiating. Interment with military honors followed at the Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery in Cunningham, TN.
Born in Slayden, Tennessee Dewie was the son of the late Isham Lee and Lottie Britt Sykes. He served his country by service in the U. S. Army. He married the former Iva Colene Cook and was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Colene Sykes, Dickson; a son, Rick Neal (and Sandi) Sykes, Columbia, TN; a daughter, Delinda Sykes Estes, Dickson; five grandsons, Josh Sykes (Kim), Jake Sykes (Jerrica), Jason Sykes, Chad Trotter, and Bradley Trotter; eight great-grandchildren, Dane Sykes, Ava Sykes, Parker Sykes, MaKenna Sykes, Lincoln Sykes, John Spears, Will Spears, and Ashley Spears.
