Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home, Dickson, TN with Rev. Lewis Bratton and Frank Whitaker officiating. Burial will follow in Centerville at Memory Gardens. Visitation with the family will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Taylor Funeral Home and on Wednesday beginning at 11:00 a.m. until time of service.
Memorial donations may be made in honor of Mr. Swafford to the Frank Whitaker Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church Dickson, TN.
Mr. David Huebrexton Swafford, age 83, of Lyles passed away at home on August 11, 2018.
He was born on April 29, 1935 in Nashville to the late Josiah Hurt and Lola Mai Fakes Swafford. Mr. Swafford was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 480 for over 55 years. He served as a deacon and was a member of the Frank Whitaker Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church Dickson. He loved his family and enjoyed his role as “Papa”. His special games and songs will be remembered by two generations of grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, all 8 of his siblings and daughter, Diana Kay Swafford James.
Mr. Swafford is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joyce Hardiman Swafford; children, Jane Swafford Brown (Keith), Lisa Swafford, Sharon Swafford Petty and Paul Swafford; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson as well as many nieces and nephews.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Nicholas Reffner, Kiefer Lund, Chris Lyle, Ryan James, Chuck Bedwell and Chuck Rota. Honorary Pallbearer, Ray Terrell-Swafford.
