Carl G. A. Ruf died peacefully on May 7, 2021 while his wife, Janice and four children, Peter, Eric, Carla, and Kyle were at his side. Carl and Janice were married 71 years. The moved to Dickson, TN from Long Island, NY in 1964 when Schrader opened a pressurized valve manufacturing plant in Dickson. Carl was born May 20, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY to Karl and Ida Ruf, who emigrated to the USA from Germany in 1926.
Carl shared his extraordinary skills as a tool and die maker with many Schrader employees. Several Schrader technicians who were trained by Carl went on to start their own tool and die or machine shop businesses and became key components in the successful operation of manufacturing facilities in Dickson and Nashville.
In addition to his wife and children, Carl’s legacy includes his daughters-in-law and son-in-law, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, May 23, 2021 at First Presbyterian Church of Dickson. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Presbyterian Church of Dickson.
