Funeral services for Larry Frazier Buttrey, Sr., age 78 of Bon Aqua, will begin at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2024 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Bro. James Parham officiating. Interment will follow in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation with the family will also be Sunday from 1 p.m. until service time. He died Wednesday, May 15th at his home.
Born in Dickson, Larry was the son of the late Lloyd and Christine Pendergrass Buttrey. He worked as a restoration specialist in the construction industry. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Larry was a skilled craftsman and enjoyed rebuilding black powder firearms, especially pistols. He also skillfully carved walking sticks. Larry was also a very competent gardener and grew some enormous sunflowers. He maintained his yard with great care and his friends and neighbors commented that it was as well manicured as a golf course! He enjoyed watching and feeding birds and he could never turn away a stray cat. Above all, he loved his family.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Buttrey of Bon Aqua; his daughter, Andrea Triplett of Murfreesboro, TN; his sons, Frazier Buttrey (Whitney) of Pleasant View, TN, and Scott Alberd (Aimee) of Columbia, TN; his brother Bruce Buttrey (Beverly) of Pleasant View; his sister, Joan Baker (Joe) of Nunnelly; his grandchildren, Amanda Triplett, Alex Triplett, Evan Buttrey, Lennox Buttrey, Elli Rose Buttrey, Hannah Alberd, and Houston Alberd; several nieces and nephews.
