Katherine was born August 10, 1923 in Nashville, TN. She was a daughter of the late George W. Denton and the late Gladys Wall Denton. She spent the days of her youth in Nashville, graduating from Isaac Litton High School, class of 1942. Her first place of employment was with White Way Cleaners, as a file clerk. In December of 1943, she joined in marriage and moved to the state of Washington to be near her husband’s Army base. She was able to acquire a job at a photography studio, just outside the base. Customers were often servicemen seeking a photograph to send back home. Nearly a year later Katherine relocated to California. She cleaned military ships in port, mostly troop carrier ships. Later she would work as a riveter, helping build airplane wings. Often her choice of employment was based on her need to work in the evenings. While living in the Redondo Beach area, she sold theater concessions, and worked a factory line assembling transistor radio parts. In 1965 Katherine moved to the Nashville area, where she worked for Aladdin Industries producing thermos bottles. She would later work as the housekeeping manager for Sheraton Hotel, and she cleaned new construction homes in the Bellevue area. In the 1970’s she began working with her mother at the White Bluff BBQ restaurant in White Bluff, TN. Katherine bought the business and operated the restaurant until the early 80’s. She moved to Franklin, TN in 1997, and again in 2014 to Smyrna. Katherine developed a problem with her sight and retired from a lifetime of hard work to enjoy years of travel with her daughter. She was fortunate to passenger over twenty cruises visiting all major ports in the Caribbean.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Carl Denton.
Katherine is survived by her son, Kenneth Walter Jones (Tina) of Bon Aqua, TN; her daughter, Debra Reichard (Walter) of Ormond Beach, FL; her grandchildren, Jason Jones (Magan) of Bon Aqua, TN, Gabriel Jones of Dickson, TN, Casey Jones (Johanna) of Nunnelly, TN, Tyler Diffie of Hermitage, TN, and Drew Diffie (Hannah) of Columbia, TN; and 9 great grandchildren.
