Elsie Jo Hewett, age 95 of Dickson, left this life to join the Church Triumphant on Thursday, June 27, 2024. She was a member of Dickson First Methodist Church and had retired from the transportation division of Mid-Cumberland Human Resources Agency in Dickson. Survivors include her daughters, Melissa Stapp and Melinda Hewett, both of Dickson; a granddaughter, Ashley Elliott of Dickson; a stepdaughter, Ginny Lawrence (Wayne) and family of Indiana; a brother-in-law, Randall Hewett of North Carolina; sisters-in-law, Frances Capshaw and Pauline Hewett, both of Florida; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents, Caswell and Myrtie Cooper Humphrey; her husband George A. Hewett; and by her son-in-law, Byron Stapp.

To know our mom was to love our mom. She lived her life according to God’s word. She had been saved at 12 years old and since that time she never stopped learning as much as she could about our Lord! Even at the age of 95 she continued to read her Bible each day. Her life definitely represented the fruits of the spirit that God talks about in Galatians 5:22-23.

She loved receiving cards, but her greatest joy was sending cards to everyone! If you were one of the lucky ones to get a card, you knew she was thinking of you. We know she kept Hallmark in business throughout the years because of all the many cards she sent. When you have never heard one bad word about your mom then you know how special she was.

Special thanks to Gentiva Hospice.
