Known by friends and family as “Gerry”, she was born in Pell City, Alabama and was the daughter of the late Irene Vaughan Bell (J.E.). At the age of 18, she left Pell City, Alabama and moved to Dickson, TN to live with her aunt, Inez Cain. She started working for Bell South Telephone Company and a year and half later she met the love of her life, Bill Hunt, on a blind date. One and a half years later they married and later made their first home in Dickson, TN where Bill commuted to Clarksville, TN for a teaching position. Within a year, he went to work for Bell South. After 10 years they moved to Memphis, later to Meridian, MS and later back to Dickson, TN and then on to Nashville and last made their last home in Brentwood. Gerry retired from Bell South Telephone Company as a supervisor.
Gerry and Bill loved the beach and enjoyed some of the best years of their lives at their condo in Panama City Beach FL. Over the years, even though they never had children of their own, they were parents to their many four-legged fur babies. The last two were schnauzers, Josh 1 and Josh 2, brought much joy to them as they grew older. Bill preceded Gerry in death in March 2014 after 61 years of marriage. Gerry continued to live in their home, enjoying Bill’s beautiful paintings with care from family, friends and caregivers. Because of failing health, she moved back home to Alabama to be closer to family.
Bill and Gerry attended and were members of the Forest Hills United Methodist Church in Nashville.
Gerry was a true southern lady with great strength, independence and determination. She loved life and truly enjoyed her friends and made so many memories over the years.
