Mary Kathryn Lyell Warren, age 89 of Lyles, TN died peacefully December 6, 2024, at Centennial Medical Center after a two week stay. Her family Kay, Sherry and Will were by her side.

She was a lifelong resident of Hickman County that was born into an old-line East Hickman County family and was the daughter of the late Ellis and Inous Yates Lyell. She was the widow of the late William Clement Warren who died in 1980. As a young girl she had beautiful long brown curls and big brown eyes. She always had the most inviting smile that instantly drew her to you. She was a woman with lots of love to give and very quickly to receive your love back.

She and her late husband Clement owned and operated the well-known family-owned Bel-Air Drive Inn in Centerville for some 26 years. They provided a good environment for everyone to go and enjoy the night out. Many memories were made with people from far and near. Mary Kathryn was the cook and the “Boss” and offered all the good theatre food that you could get anywhere. Her popcorn, hotdogs, and special little burgers were the best around. That venue truly made a mark on the history of Hickman County. In her early years she worked at the well-known Lacy Lyell Store in Lyles.

Mary Kathryn was an avid reader; she loved cooking, and was good at it, for her family and friends, and one was always welcome at her home if it was after 12 Noon. She loved her sleep and loved to sleep in and truly wasn’t a morning person. She loved politics, bipartisan politics because she had many friends in office from both sides of the political world. She contributed to and worked for her candidates faithfully. Mary Kathryn was a long-time Methodist.

A true southern lady that had a kind and giving heart that gave her life to her family, Kay, Sherry, and Ma’s Darling (her one and only grandson) Will. She truly loved her community and was all about East Hickman County and supported everything in East Hickman.

She was preceded in death by her brothers and sister, Paul Lyell, Harold Lyell, Curtis Lyell and Margie Foster.

Mary Kathryn is survived by her two daughters, Kay Warren of Lyles, TN and Sherry Warren Winn of Dickson, TN and her only grandchild Will Warren Winn.

Mary Kathryn’s family would like to thank her cardiologist and her friend Dr. Byron Haitas, all the nurse practitioners and all the many nurses and staff at Centennial Hospital that did an excellent job taking care of their mom for a two week stay. She had excellent care, and they love you all.
