Funeral services for Scott Wilson Mitchell, age 75 of Dickson, will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2025, from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home, with Mickey Mathis officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Dickson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday from 4 until 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time. For those desiring, memorials are suggested to “Last Chance Animal Rescue” or “American Cancer Society.”
Scott passed from his earthly life on Saturday, June 28th at Horizon Medical Center.
Born in Nashville, Scott was the son of the late Gordon Wilson and Pauline Smith Mitchell. Scott graduated in 1968 from Houston County High School. He served a 4-year stint in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and where he achieved the rank of SSGT (E-5). He was married to Tena (Winn) Mitchell, who preceded him in death. Scott worked in industrial machine maintenance, most recently in HVAC and refrigeration maintenance. He was a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to his parents and wife, Scott was predeceased by his brother, Don Mitchell and by a granddaughter, Tristen.
Survivors include his daughter, Trina Capps (Tommy) of Bon Aqua, TN; a step-son Brad Parker (Rebecca) of North Carolina; his brother, Johnny Mitchell (Linda) of Dickson; his grandchildren, Hunter, Haley, and Becky; great-granddaughter, Evelynn; his step-grandchildren, Summer, Wyatt, and Amelia; several nieces and nephews; and his canine companion, “Buddy.”
