Mr. Bobby Joe Stokes, age 72 of Burns, died Friday, February 22, 2013 at Centennial Medical Center. Funeral services for Mr. Bobby Joe Stokes were held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 25, 2013 from the Faith Baptist Church with Bro. Howard Wingo officiating. Interment followed in Union Cemetery. A native of Dickson County, Mr. Stokes was a son of the late Lloyd Glenn and Hazel Louise Brown Stokes. After more than 33 years of service he retired from Metropolitan Davidson County Parks and Recreation Department as Senior Greenskeeper for the Harpeth Hills Golf Course.
He was also a member of Faith Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Kay Stokes, Burns; Sons, Mike Stokes, Dickson, Shane Matthews and Charles Matthews, both of Nashville; daughter, Sandra (Luis) Marquez, Nashville; brother, Donald (Betty) Stokes, Dickson; 14 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
