Funeral services for Mr. Bobby Lawrence Averitt, age 69 of Vanleer, were held Monday, June 2, 2014 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Melvin Brooks officiating. Place of rest is in the Dickson Union Cemetery.
Mr. Averitt died Wednesday May 28, 2014. A life-long resident of Dickson County, he was the son of the late Lawrence C. and Zelma Trotter Averitt. Bobby had served on the Vanleer City Council and was a former Mayor of Vanleer. He was a big story teller and a Jack of All Trades and loved trading watches, guns, horses, mules or anything worth trading. Bobby was a long time employee of the Taylor Funeral Home. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Methodist Church.
Survivors include his long time companion, Sandra Hill of Vanleer; first cousins, Rachel Weaver and her husband Earl of Vanleer, Teresa Miller and her husband Dale of Dickson, Doug Averitte of Vanleer; several other cousins and family.
