Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home. Doug Hendriks will officiate. Visitation will be on Monday February 23rd from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Place of rest will be in the Thompson Cemetery, Cathey Hollow Road, Burns, TN.
Those desiring memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Charles Ellis Moon, Sr. age 102 of Burns, TN died peacefully at his home with his family by his side.
Mr. Moon was raised in Nashville, TN and was the son of the late Percy and Emma Moon. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Mabry Moon in 2019, also preceded in death by his son Charles Ellis Moon (Sonny) Jr. and his sister Mildred Craighead.
He retired from Capitol Engraving Co. in Nashville, TN when he was 65 serving there some 40 years. He loved his family, the outdoors, hunting and fishing with his “Honeybee” Ruth. They raised beagle hunting dogs for years when they lived in Nashville. After they retired and moved to Dickson they farmed and raised cows for the next 30 years. They were members of the Browns Chapel Church of Christ in Dickson County. He was a veteran and served his country in the United States Navy. He led his life by example and was a treasure to all that knew him. His family and friends will miss him terribly.
Survivors include his daughter, Susan Moon, his grandchildren Tamra Moon and Nikki Hendriks (Doug). He has seven great grandchildren; Nikki has four and Tamra has three.
Casket bearers will be Luke Hendriks, Will Hendriks, Gabe Hendriks, Mitchell Hendriks and Doug Hendriks.
