Graveside services for Christine Stephens Talbert, age 85 of Dickson, will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2020 from the Gillin Cemetery near White Bluff with Pastor Wes Sesler officiating. Family viewing is private. Mrs. Talbert died Tuesday evening, May 5, 2020.
Born in Sewanee, Tennessee on January 25, 1935, Christine was the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson Stephens and the late Dollie Hoback Stephens. She grew up playing basketball and was named “Miss Sewanee” in the 1950’s. She met the love of her life, David Kenneth Talbert, while he was doing work in the area. Soon after, he brought her back to Dickson where they stayed happily married for 62 years until his death in 2017. Together they owned and operated Central Electric in Dickson for some 35 years. She was a member of the Episcopal Church. Christine was also preceded by her sisters, Esther Goodman and Dixie Foster; and by her brother, Kim Hunter Stephens.
Survivors include her son, Rick Talbert (Cheryl), Dickson; her daughter, Cindy Talbert Haile (David), Dickson; her brother, Charles William Stephens (Fay), Waverly, TN; her sister, Terri Stephens Henley (Richard), Decherd, TN; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
