Dorothy Jean McGee Layton, age 80 of Dickson, TN died on Monday, November 14, 2022. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at the Taylor Funeral Home with Bro. Carl Hooper officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 PM until the time of service. A private graveside service will be held at the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. For those desiring, memorials may be made to the Thompson Station United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Layton was born October 14, 1942 at home in Nashville, TN. She was a daughter of the late William “Mac” McGee and Kathryn Purcell. Dorothy was an excellent cook and loved to entertain. She once managed a restaurant in Anchorage, Alaska. She enjoyed spending time with her family and had a great love for her grandchildren. Before her health declined, she attended services at the Thompson Station United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Tony Lee; and her grandson, Dusty Girvan, granddaughter; Kimberley Hobbs, brothers; Dick McGee, Bill McGee, and Tommy McGee.
Mrs. Layton is survived by her husband of 21 years, Glenn H. Layton; her daughters, Michelle Locklear (David) of Dickson, TN, and Glenda Hasley (Terry) of Dickson, TN; three sons, Mike Lee (Tammy) of Waverly, TN, Phillip Lee (Angela) of Waverly, TN, and William Vance Layton (Clarissa) of Dickson, TN; sisters, Barbara Bracey of Franklin, TN, and Shirley Beech (Steve) of Kingston Springs, TN. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
