Funeral services for Dr. Donald Burchard “Don” McCoy, age 86 of Dickson were held Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 1 PM from the Chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home with Dr. Tom McCoy officiating. Place of rest is in the Centerville Cemetery.
Dr. Don McCoy died Sunday October 26, 2014 at his home. Born in Dresden, TN, he was the son of the late Albert Austin and Celia Edith Bass McCoy and was preceded in death by his son, James McCoy and grandson, Ryan McCoy. Dr. McCoy held a Doctorate in Theology and Philosophy and had been the Academic Dean at the American Baptist Seminary. He was the minister at the Dickson First Baptist Church from 1972 to 1992.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Sterline White McCoy of Dickson; sons, David McCoy of Dickson, Mark McCoy of Brentwood, Dr. Tom McCoy of Franklin; sister, Edith Dyer of Centerville; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren.
