Family and friends will assemble at the graveside at Scott Cemetery on Monday, December 11, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. for graveside funeral services. Visitation will be on Sunday at Taylor Funeral Home between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. The place of rest will be the Scott Cemetery.
Those desiring, memorials are suggested to the Scott Cemetery Fund.
Mr. Edward C. Greer, Sr., age 91, of Kingston Springs, TN died peacefully December 8, 2023, at NHC The Trace.
Mr. Greer was born in Cheatham County, the son of the late Hugh Nesbitt and Katie Belle Wright Greer. He worked with AT & T. He spent some 38 years with them working in various positions and lastly, he worked in the assignment office. He proudly served his country in the United States Marines during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Lee Lyell Greer in 2009, also his brothers, Billy Greer, Jack Greer Arnett Greer, and Dickie Lee Greer.
In his past time, he spent time deer hunting and fishing. During the later years he and his good friend Johnny Dowdy made numerous trips to the Amish country buying vegetables for canning, especially tomatoes. He loved making his own pork sausage and sharing it with family and friends.
Being a veteran, he knew where so many of the veterans were buried and on Veterans Day, he loved making trips to the various cemeteries and placing flags on their graves.
Mr. Greer is survived by his son, Edward C. Greer, Jr. and his wife, Susan of Kingston Springs, TN and his daughter, Terri L. Greer Bates and her husband, Curtis of Brentwood, TN, his sister, Juanita Story of Kingston Springs, TN, his grandchildren, Allison O’Bryant (Calan), Greg Bates (Shelley), James Greer (Jillian) and Chris Bates (Lindsey), and Six great grandchildren, Special Friends, Christine Nicks and Johnny Dowdy. Honorary pallbearers will be Allison O’Bryant, Greg Bates, James Greer and Chris Bates.
