Funeral services for Eliga Hassell, age 76 of Dickson will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2013 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Tommy Marvin officiating. Interment will follow in the Averitte Cemetery in Vanleer. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday August 20th from 5 to 8 PM and on Wednesday from 10 AM until time of service. Mr. Hassell died Friday, August 16, 2013 at St. Thomas West, Nashville.
A native of Dickson County, Eliga was the son of the late Carline Rebecca and Elisha Hassell, Sr. He served his country in the United States Army and attended the Church of Christ. Now retired, he had worked in the Packing Department of Schrader’s, Alvin Jones Chevrolet-Olds, and in the stock room at Castner-Knott.
Survivors include a very special friend, Shirley Hafner, Charlotte; nephews, Danny Best and Greg Best, both of Virginia and Mike Ligon, Iowa; several great nieces and nephews; and three aunts, Mae, Joan, and Liz. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by a sister, Shelley Jean Best.
