Mr. Frederick Lawrence “Freddy” Acker, Jr., age 56 of Vanleer and Linden, died January 8, 2026 at his home in Linden.  No formal services are planned at this time.

Born in Newton, New Jersey on February 13, 1969, Freddy was the son of Frederick Acker, Sr. and the late Martha LaMoore Acker.  He served our country in the National Guard.  Freddy had quite a colorful occupational career!  He worked as a chef for his County Seat in New Jersey; then as a plumber in New York.  A good deal of his life, he was an over-the-road trucker and saw much of the United States behind the wheel.  He ended up as a chainsaw artist in Vanleer and Linden, making beautiful and unique creations with chunks of wood and his chainsaw.  Freddy also owned and operated a wood whittling business in Linden.  He also had a carefree wanderlust as he hiked the Appalachian Trail for six months.  He and his girlfriend also took backpacking trips together.  He loved fly-fishing and hunting in earlier years.  You knew where you stood with Freddy!  His sister described him as a “person with No Filter!”

Survivors include his father, Fred Acker, Sr. of Vanleer; his girlfriend, Cathy Blair of Linden, TN; his son, Christopher Acker, Wantage, NJ; a daughter, Elizabeth Acker of Wantage, NJ; a brother, Burt Acker of Branchville, NJ; two sisters, Martha “Missy” Acker and Kelly McCullom (Richard), both of Vanleer.
