Garry Allen Hardison, Sr.

Celebration of Life services will be conducted Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 12 Noon from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home. Pastor Donald Valentine will be the Eulogist and Dr. Jimmy Overton will serve as the Officiant. Visitation with the family will be on Friday evening, January 9^th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Place of rest will be in the Worley Furnace Cemetery.

Garry Allen Hardison, Sr., age 81, of Cottontown, Tennessee formerly of Dickson, Tennessee was born November 16, 1944, and departed his earthly home peacefully Monday morning, January 5, 2026, at Tri-Star Hendersonville Medical Center.

Garry received Jesus as his Lord and Savior at the Worley Furnace Missionary Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of the late Pastor Louis Horner. He later united and served as deacon at New Hope Baptist Church, Dickson, Tennessee under the leadership of Pastor Mathew Lester. He later returned to his home church, Worley Furnace, where he served as Co-chairman of the Deacon Board and uplifting the Name of Jesus through songs of praise with the Worley Furnace Male Chorus. He remained a faithful and dedicated member of Worley Furnace until January 1999 when he became an equally dedicated and faithful member of the Gravel Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Bethpage, Tennessee. He served as co-chairman and chairman of the Deacon Board at Gravel hill until his homegoing. He was the bass guitar player for the Gravel Hill Choir and taught Sunday school for a brief period.

Garry received his education and graduated from Hampton High School, Dickson, Tennessee where he was a part of the Hampton High Marching Band and basketball team. He was employed by Schrader Automotive, Dozier Equipment Company, Globe Business Furniture and Ozburn-Hessey logistics where he retired. A few months later he chose to return to the workforce and began his employment with Mid-Cumberland Human Resource Authority as a driver and then promoted as the transportation manager for the Gallatin, Tennessee area. After 13 years of service with Mid-Cumberland he retired in August 2025. Gary was a coach for the Dixie Youth Baseball team for several years. He served on the Parks and Recreation board in Dickson for many years.

Gary put his whole heart in every task he set out to accomplish in the name of Jesus. His passion was serving the Lord, being there and loving his family and gospel music. He played bass guitar with many gospel groups including the Worley Furnace Singers, which later became known as the Revelations (his musical family). He served with commitment and faithfulness.

Garry is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Odell Lee (Shorty) and Mrs. Christine Horner Hardison, his brother Howard Hardison and wife Johnnie L. Hardison and niece Crystal Hannah.

He leaves to cherish his memory, devoted and loving wife of 25 years, Mai Grace Hardison, Cottontown, Tennesse, His sons, Garry Jr., (Rita) Hardison, Nashville, Tennessee, Jermaine (Chantal) Hardison, Portland, Tennessee, Patrick Graves, Westmoreland, Tennessee and Eric Douglas, Cottontown, Tennessee, Sister, Geneva Hannah, Dickson, Tennessee, Grandchildren, Garyson and Noah Hardison, Elijah Douglas and Dylan Graves, Sister-in-law, Alice Calhoun; Nieces: Trina Calhoun, Stephanie Hogin, Deloise Malone and Abigail Morgan, Nephews; Travis and Taylor Calhoun, Devoted Cousins, Jeff Horner, Chris Horner and Dr. Jimmy Overton.

Garry was blessed with so many cousins, church and pastor friends, musician friends, hunting buddies and co-workers. There are so many acquaintances and friends that we cannot begin to name them all. We are so thankful for each of you. We thank God for a well- lived and blessed life.
