Gilbert Leroy “Gil” Spangle, age 78, of Vanleer died Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at the Alive Hospice Residence in Nashville.
Born in 1947 in Corning, California, Gil was the son of the late Daniel and June Boles Spangle. He was married for 53 years to Nancy Lee Spangle, who preceded him in death. Gil retired as a millworker, and he previously owned and operated Spangle’s Equipment Painting for more than 25 years. He enjoyed fishing and being on the farm and he enjoyed watching older westerns on tv. He was a member of Sylvia Baptist Church.
Survivors include his son, Dan Spangle (and Therese) of Huntingdon, TN; 2 daughters, Michelle Hicks (Don) of Wartrace, TN, and Kimberly vondemBusscheHaddenhausen; his brother, William Daniel Spangle of California; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and 2 on the way.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Teresa Yasiello.

I had the opportunity to meet Mr Gil when he started coming to Sylvia Baptist. Than I had the great pleasure to help with his wedding to Sherry Gilmore on May 3, 2025. Two very beautiful people. Was very saddened by the death of his wife Sherry, and now him. May they rest in the beautiful prace of our Lord.
