Memorial services will be Saturday October 14, 2023 at 2 PM at the Poplar Grove Church of Christ in McEwen, TN with Wes Bowker officiating. Visitation with the family will be Saturday October 14th from 1 PM until time of service.
Helmut “John” Bonkowski, age 87 of McEwen, TN passed away September 20, 2023 peacefully at his home. Born in West Prussia, Germany, John was the son of the late Artur Bonkowski and Emma Kruger Bonkowski. He was married for many years to Jeannette Bonkowski and they continued to be the best of friends.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Bonkowski and sisters, Trudy Mathis and his twin sister Helga Collins.
Survived by his wife, Jeannette Bonkowski; daughters, Michelle Bowker (Rocky) and Kim Estes (Bruce); brother, Eddie Bonkowski (Elaine); grandchildren, Wes Bowker (Nicole), Shaina Manley (Jason), Colt Bowker (Ashley), Caleb Estes, Jacob Estes (Lindsay), Emily Green (Nathan), Shad Estes (Rayah); 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Also survived by his beloved dog, Lady.
