Funeral services for Jacob Taylor Akers, age 22 of Charlotte, was conducted Sunday, July 13, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. from the Chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Eric Anderson and Dr. Kent Gallaher officiating. Place of rest is in the Dickson County Memorial Gardens.
Jacob, a college student, died Monday July 7, 2014 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. He was a native of Redding, California. Jacob had received a Bachelors of Science in Molecular Biology from David Lipscomb University Class of 2014 graduating Cum Laude. He had enrolled and been accepted to attend DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harrogate, Tennessee. His goal was to graduate medical school and practice as a hospitalist. Jacob was also a member of Mission 615 Church and Homeless Outreach Ministry in Nashville.
Survivors include his parents, Jim & Carol Akers of Charlotte, TN; brother, Zach Akers of Charlotte, TN and Zach’s girlfriend Whitney Hamilton of White Bluff, TN; grandmothers, Jackie Atherton of Vanleer, TN; Norma Akers of Clovis, CA; fiance’ Savannah Ladage of White Bluff, TN; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
