Family and Friends will gather Wednesday morning, August 7, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at the graveside of Cumberland Furnace Cemetery for graveside funeral services. Mike Richardson will officiate. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 6th at Taylor Funeral Home beginning at 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Those desiring, memorials are suggested to the Cumberland Furnace Cemetery Fund.
Jamie, age 79, died peacefully, August 3, 2019, at NHC at the Trace after a short stay.
He was born in Cumberland Furnace, Tennessee, son of the late James Elihue and Myrtle Wall Heath. Jamie retired as a 911 dispatcher and had a career of working in law enforcement from 1972-1992. He also was a farmer and sharecropper raising tobacco. Jamie loved the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, and spending time with his little four-legged pets were his favorite activities. He was a long-time member of the Central Church of Christ in Charlotte, TN. He was married to the former Nancy Shelton in 1962 who preceded him in death in 2002.
Jamie was also preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bedford and Lola Fiser Shelton and his brother-in-law, Johnny Shelton.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Jenny and Greg Martin of Charlotte, TN; his sister, Judy Heath of Cumberland Furnace, TN; his aunt, Lucille Tyler of Clarksville, TN; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tommy and Gayle Shelton, Gina Shelton, Rachel Harris, and Connie and Stephen Swang. Also, surviving is his family of the Central Church of Christ, several nieces and nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
