Graveside services will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 12 Noon from the Vanleer Cemetery. Bro. James McClurkan will officiate. Visitation will be held at Taylor Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, from 4PM until 8PM.
Marcus Lee “Mike” Gilmore, Jr., age 78 of Vanleer TN, passed away on October 28, 2025.
He was born on December 3, 1946, in Vanleer, TN to the late Marcus Lee Gilmore, Sr. and Bessie Alma Nelson Gilmore.
Mike was known as “Daddy” and “Big Daddy”. Those who knew him, knew what a strong man that he was. He was a proud cancer survivor. He worked as an Iron worker his whole life in the Local 492. He enjoyed gardening, working with mules, coon hunting, fishing, and farming. He would always freeze and can food from the crops that he raised, and he made his own sausage. He will always be remembered as a man that cared about others, loved helping people that were in need and how he loved his family immensely. In his down time, he enjoyed watching the TN Titans play football.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcus and Bessie Gilmore.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Libby and Chris Farmer, grandchildren, Austin Williams, Michael Williams (Jessica), great-grandchildren, Ember Waller, Everett Waller, Lydia Waller, and stepson, Shannon Miller.

He was a good man and a good Ironworkers and he was a good foreman the few times I worked for him.
