Private family graveside services were held on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at the Mt Lebanon Cemetery. Rev. Joyce Lighari officiated. Place of rest is in the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.
Those desiring memorials are suggested to the Roberts Cemetery Fund.
Mary Alice Southerland Allen, 86, born July 28, 1933 in Dickson County and passed away on May 17, 2020. Preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Roscoe, parents, Elbert Alonzo and Pearl Mathis Southerland and four siblings
She leaves behind her 4 children, Eve (Mike) Larkins, Marie (James) Murphy, Vivian (Tony) McCord and Terri Allen. She also leaves 9 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Mary Alice was a graduate of Charlotte High School and Austin Peay State University. She taught many years at Burns Elementary, later named Stuart-Burns, and then moved to Sullivan Middle to teach Science. She ended her more than 30 year teaching career at Dickson Middle School teaching Science. In addition to being a dedicated educator, she was the ultimate homemaker and always made her family her top priority. She was greatly loved and will be missed.
