Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon, September 15, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home. Dr. Mike Miller will officiate. Place of rest will be in the Dickson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday beginning at 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Memorials are suggested to the local VFW, American Legion or to the Humane Society.

Mr. Thomas, age 88, of Dickson, TN died peacefully Friday, September 13, 2019 at his home.

He was born in Cook County, Illinois and was the son of the late Henry and Myrtle Davoney Thomas. He proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Army. Orval was a retired senior instrument mechanic foreman with TVA. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Dickson.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather that loved spending time with his family and he will be missed very much. In his spare time when he wasn’t tinkering with and working on TV’s or anything that needed to be fixed, he and his wife, Mary Ann spent time traveling across the U.S. in their motor home and camping. He loved to sit back in his chair at home and tune in to a good western movie. Orval had the type of personality that he never met a stranger, expressed a great sense of humor and loved a good laugh.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise B. Thomas and his son, Ronald Thomas.

Survivors include his wife; Mary Ann Thomas of Dickson, TN, his three children; Robert Thomas (Tracy) of Hixson, TN, Randy Thomas (Connie George) of Dickson, TN and Renee Beck (Dave) of Dickson, TN, his step children; David (Melanie) Smith, Christy Smith, (Dale Brown), Cheryl Scott (Geoffrey) his two grandchildren; Merissa Leaver and Austin Thomas.his step grandchildren; Courtney Gilliland (Ethan) Amanda Scott, Zachary Scott, Sara G. Scott, Shane Smith, Quinn Smith and Reese Smith.Step great grandchildren; Tristan and Luke Gilliland.
