Peggy Williamson Forsythe

Peggy Forsythe, known to most simply as “Granny,” of Clarksville, TN. Was received into the loving arms of Jesus and greeted with a “well done, good and faithful servant!” In the late hours of Saturday, November 1st, 2025. Born on April 21st, 1942 in Henderson, North Carolina the late Hill Williamson and Zelma Roberson Williamson.

In addition to her parents, she is proceeded in death by her loving husband of 38 years, Charles K. Forsythe, married until his death in April, 2005. Two sisters, Ola Williamson & Ruby Williamson Switzer, and one brother, James “Earl” Williamson. She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Dwayne) Smith. Her four grandbabies, Allison (Chris) McHenry, Amber (Daniel) Cotterell, Adam (April) Lassiter, & AJ Lassiter. Four great grandbabies, Nathan, Noah, Jacob, & Charlie. She is also survived by two bothers, Henry Williamson & Donald Williamson, sister-in-law and dear friend, Joan (Earl) Williamson, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Granny was a devoted member of Calvary Baptist Church in North Carolina for over 50 years, where she served faithfully as the leader of Awana and Cubbies for many years. Although she no longer lived in NC, she still watched every service and was considered part of the church family despite the distance. Granny also spent many years with an in home day-care, where she touched the lives of many children, faithfully teaching them about the love of Jesus while in her care.

Granny was the very definition of love. Always patient and kind, she was not dishonoring to others, did not seek her own way, but instead put others above herself. She was not easily angered, was always hopeful, never lost her faith, and endured through every circumstance. I suppose the latter may have come easier to her than most, as her Bible is littered with doodles of Romans 8:28, believing that God truly does work all things for the good of those who love Him. Granny truly was one of a kind, a precious jewel of a woman, and beloved by those who knew her. Those of us blessed enough to know her as Granny are left with a lasting impression on our hearts, something never to be lost or forgotten.

Although she deserved the world, Granny’s wishes were that no large services were to be held, but instead a private family memorial, something the family will honor at a later date.
