Richard J. Miles Sr., age 90 of Dickson, TN passed away on September 23, 2023, in Dickson, TN. He was born on March 19, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois. Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Richard was known for his intelligence and dynamic personality. He had a deep love for his country and cherished his family dearly. Richard is survived by his wife, Barbara; his children, Kathleen Williams, Caryn Garner, Richard J. Miles Jr., Michael Miles, Melissa Miles Figone; sister, Diane Doe; brother, Mark Miles. He was also a proud grandfather to Anne Carlos, Margaret Atlas, Jeremy Garner, Kim Sullivan, Ryan Miles, Tyler Miles, Joshua Valdez, Robert Figone, and Joe Figone, as well as a great grandfather to Grace Marilyn Atlas, Addie Sullivan, and Allie Sullivan.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, David, and Florence Miles, as well as three brothers and three sisters.
Richard completed a bachelor’s degree at Northern Illinois and graduated law school at Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles, CA. He proudly served his country in both the US Navy and the US Marine Corps. Richard is a Korean War Veteran.
Richard had a distinguished career in the insurance industry, beginning in 1956 as a claims examiner, and retiring in 2002 from CSE Insurance Group in San Francisco, CA as the executive vice-president and continued with the company as a member of the board of directors until 2014.
In his free time, Richard enjoyed hunting, golfing, and spending early mornings at the dog park with his beloved dogs.
