Richard Lee Horton, Jr., age 89 of Camden, died November 16, 2023 at Jackson-Madison Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee. His wishes were for cremation and a memorial service for family and friends will be planned by the family at a later date.
Born in Valley Station, Kentucky, Richard was the son of the late Jerusha Walker Horton and the late Richard Lee Horton, Sr. He served his country during the Korean War in the United States Air Force. Richard retired from servicing a route for an industrial supplies agency and was a member of Pine Hill Church of the Nazarene. He loved singing with his sisters (The Horton Sisters) and picking his guitars. He was a “fierce” card player and really loved Pinochle. He loved his family unconditionally, especially his grandchildren. And he loved and respected the mother of his children, Betty.
Other survivors include his three sons, David Horton (Debra) of Simpsonville, SC, Mark Horton (Amy) of Marietta, GA, and Anthony Horton (Jill) of Sumter, SC; his daughter, Regina Kyle (Kenny) of Clermont, FL; a brother, Henry Horton (Judy) of Ft. Mill, SC; two sisters, Freeda Mae Young (Darrell) of McEwen, TN and Viola Geddings of Gallatin, TN; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded by a son, Richard Horton, III; by a brother, Homer Horton, and by a sister, Darline Horton.
