Mr. Sammy Jack Middleton, age 68 of Cumberland Furnace, died Thursday, February 7, 2013 at his home. Graveside services for Mr. Sammy J. Middleton were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2013 from the Averitte Cemetery near Vanleer with Bro. Norman Edwards officiating. Burial followed in the Averitte Cemetery. A native of Harlan County, Kentucky, Sammy was the son of the late Sam and Cecil Green Middleton. He was a carpenter by trade and worked for several employers and for himself in the construction business.
He was married to the former Gila Ann Robertson who preceded him in death. Survivors include his daughter, Gila L. Edwards and her husband, Norman ‘Bubba’ Edwards, Vonore, TN; three grandchildren, Brandi, Deanna, and Danielle Edwards; one great grandson, Logan Sean Edwards; one brother, Sonny Middleton, Texas; and one sister, Merrell Bowshier, South Carolina.
