Funeral services will be conducted Saturday morning, December 13, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home. Mike Richardson will officiate. Place of rest will be in the Dickson Union Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday evening, December 12th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and will continue Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Place of rest will be in the Dickson Union Cemetery.
Those desiring in lieu of flowers gifts may be given to assist the family with end-of-life expenses.
Stephen Alan Swang, age 71, of Carthage, TN formerly of Nashville, TN died December 9, 2025, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Stephen was born in Nashville and was the son of the late Dr. Axel Swang and Doris Cluck Swang. He was married to the former Connie Shelton for 44 years. He was a graduate of Overton High School, Class of 1973. Stephen worked with the 20th Century Christian Book Store for some 27 years. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.
Stephen was an avid sports type of guy, he loved University of Tennessee Football, a faithful follower of Lipscomb Basketball and the Atlanta Braves baseball. Stephen also had a fetish for ink pens, pens of all kind’s shapes and colors. He was known to even keep the ones that quit working. He was intrigued with ink pens.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Connie Shelton Swang of Carthage, TN, his daughters Breanna Swang of Boynton Beach, FL and Brette Swang (Jake Neal) of Carthage, TN, his brother, Dr. Ron Swang and his wife Susan of Nashville, TN, his three grandchildren, Ella, Emily and Maxwell, nieces and nephews, Stephanie Edwards (Jeff), Shane Harris (April), Jenny Martin (Greg), Laura Karkau (David), Beth Ewing (Michael). He was preceded in death by his son Bedford Swang.
